 Energy Time is a work painted in the excitement of 50s Jazz music. It is a man, in the prime of life, standing under a crushing summer sun. His eyes, black holes lost in the shadow, form two expressive spots. The man I painted here is Terre de Siena, or better, he is the Red Man. He is handsome and strong. He is right there, frozen in a vibrant posture, full of energy, which suggests a story of resilience and pride. He makes the "cacou", an old word from the south of France that wants to tell you that he is exposing himself, that he is showing off in a garden, because off-screen, there are his sons watching and pestering him. It is a scene of life, nothing else, a moment of aesthetic pleasure for the painter, served by a colorful palette, with touches of transparency, shades of ochre, pink and yellow, contrasting with the long black shadows of the blocked sun. This portrait invites the viewer to engage in its silent narrative and in the perception of the moment, the moment captured and just as quickly gone. It could just as well have been called "summer pleasure"
