Welcome to the Phi-Painter and Copyist website! I'm a French artist and copyist specialising in oil techniques and portraiture. In my art gallery you'll find a mixture of original works and reproductions of old paintings, which reflect my background: I studied Art History and went on to become a lecturer and researcher in this discipline at university.

Creativity and old-fashioned know-how
In my portfolio you'll find original oil paintings in a hyper-realistic vein: mainly portraits, not just of human nature, as animals also have their place. The creative process is not limited to the choice of subject. Beforehand, the composition of the painting and the sources of inspiration - drawings and photographs - are considered and recomposed.
The work continues with the choice of paint, pigments and binders. The Phi-Artiste-Peintre art gallery also includes copies or recreations of old works, chosen from the repertoire of Western painters active in the modern period (16th-18th centuries). It's a different approach to creation, one that invites us to enter into the creative intimacy of the late painter, to understand his craft, his intentions and his tastes, so as to better grasp the essence of his vision.
